Moshe believes that collectively we must develop a forward-thinking, unifying agenda that prioritizes some of the most important issues challenging our nation. Together, we need to identify common sense solutions for the most intractable problems we face today as a society and visibly improve the lives of all Americans.
To that end, the issues Moshe prioritizes personally and professionally are mental health, healthy communities, housing, education, and national security. Moshe sees them as foundational and critical to advancing our nation’s peace and prosperity in the 21st Century. He knows that together we can improve America, and empower Americans by providing better, healthier and unifying opportunities to live and thrive in our nation.
Mental Health
Regarding mental health, Moshe has been very active in the South Florida community on this front. Specifically, he’s served as a Strategic Board Member for Thriving Mind South Florida. Thriving Mind promotes access to effective, accountable, and compassionate care for people with mental illness and substance use disorders in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. During the initial outbreak of COVID, Moshe donated 5,000 KN95 facemasks to Thriving Mind and the community it serves.
Additionally, Moshe was honored to have John Newcomer, Thriving Mind’s CEO, on his Common Denominator podcast On the show, Moshe and John discussed the devastating relationship between mental health and substance abuse and what each of us can do to help people living with mental illness.

Healthy Communities
Regarding healthy communities, one of the biggest problems facing our nation is food insecurity. Per the United States Department of Agriculture, 12.8 percent (17.0 million) of U.S. households were food insecure at some time during 2022. This is one of the main reasons Moshe and his wife Yaffa created Neighborhood Farms USA®, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that promotes the benefits of establishing and maintaining community gardens that provide access to fresh, nutrient-rich produce and educates through practical community-building programs, newsletters, and on-line workshops. The goal of Neighborhood Farms USA® is to generate greater awareness for healthy nutrition among families and their children and encourage communities to work together to cultivate land and harvest crops.

Housing
In addition to helping Americans eat better, Moshe wants to help them live better and more comfortably. An area of particular import to Moshe is housing, specifically providing affordable housing to Americans in need. Moshe’s real estate investment firm, YMP REM, does just that. A large part of YMP’s portfolio is workforce housing, and his company owns approximately 4,000 multifamily apartment units spanning three states. A core component of YMP’s mission statement is to deliver extraordinary service to all of its tenants, and to go above and beyond to enhance their living experience.

Thinking with Your Hands: The Surprising Science Behind How Gestures Shape Our Thoughts
by Susan Goldin-Meadow
Body language—specifically hand gestures—can provide emphasis on what we’re saying or give away contradictory thoughts as we speak. Linguist Susan Goldin-Meadow explores the science of the link between speech and hand gestures and reveals what our hands are really “saying” and why.
For example, do you sometimes gesture with your hands when you’re on the phone, even though the other person can’t see you? That’s because our brains interpret these gestures as part of our communication process, with or without an audience.
This is one of those fascinating books that makes you aware of an aspect of yourself you may never have thought about before.
